HOW TO FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU WANT

KEY TAKEAWAY: Do you know what you want? We often don’t. We may know we want more or less of something or feel that something needs to change, but we aren’t always sure what that is. In today’s video, I’ll share strategies to help you get clear on what you want so you can take the actions you need to achieve it. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/ZqU5UodLKXc

Happy International Women’s Day (IWD)!

International Women’s Day has its roots in the labor and women’s rights movements of the early 20th century, with the first IWD-like event being organized by the Socialist Party of America. It took place on February 28th, 1909.

The idea caught on in Europe as a way to promote equal rights and women’s suffrage, and the first official International Women’s Day was celebrated on March 19th, 1911, in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland.

The date shifted to March 8th following a pivotal protest by Russian women during World War I, demanding “Bread and Peace.” This strike became one of the sparks of the Russian Revolution.

In 1975, the United Nations officially recognized International Women’s Day, and it has since become a global celebration of women’s achievements and ongoing efforts toward equality.

So, Happy International Women’s Day!

I want to say thank you to all the women and men on whose shoulders we stand when we view the efforts made to support our and every human being’s desire and right to be recognized and treated as equal members of this world. You have made a difference in our world – in the world.

I also want to thank and recognize you who show up each day and work to support not only your own life and those of your loved ones but also the world at large. You make a difference.

You may be thinking, “Well, I haven’t done much,” or view making a difference as something that has to be BIG and VISIBLE.

However, what I have learned over the years is that no matter how small something may seem to be, the result can be significant. It doesn’t have to be trumpeted to the world, framed by position or wealth, or posted on social media to matter.

Every choice we make can make a difference:

  • A genuine smile of greeting
  • A gracious thank you
  • A strong hug
  • A just-because to recognize how someone else touches your life
  • Choosing to treat each other as another feeling human being deserving of the same treatment that we would want for ourselves and loved ones

It all makes a difference. A big one. It colors the world we live in for the better.

So, today, please join me in taking a moment to pause and to celebrate the role you play in coloring the world for the better and the efforts of others who have and do the same.

And perhaps also let it serve as a gentle reminder to us of the choices that we can continue to make to color the world in a positive way.

Choosing Your Life

Speaking of choices and their power to create positive change, I share with you today a topic that I thought was fitting for today because it celebrates our ability to choose: To choose the life we want for ourselves.

We are fortunate to have that choice, even if sometimes we don’t feel as if we do. However, if you are reading this, then you have greater power to choose than many others who are on this planet,

However, sometimes we don’t know what to choose.

We lack clarity about what we want. So, in order to be able to exercise our power to choose, we need clarity about what we want. Then, we can align what we do with what supports how we want to feel and what we want in our lives.

That is important not only because aligning what we do to support how we want to feel and live not only helps us to thrive but has an impact on the world around us. After all, the more we thrive, the more we can support the thriving of others.

Do yearn for greater clarity around what you want?
